Hello and a belated Happy New Year
We hope you are excited, fired up and ready for a fantastic 2026. Into our second month of business for 2026, we are currently most of the way through a shop rearrange in Sylvania, while scheduling lots of exciting classes and events for you all this year.
Shop Rearrange
If you have come into our Sylvania store since reopening, you will notice that things are slowly moving and changing. With some late nights and early mornings repainting floors and building new furniture we are looking forward to a fresh new look within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, please be patient with us while instore as some items are out of place and lots of people and things are moving about.
Once we recover, we will commence a Lindfield rearrange and freshen up.

How to Maintain your modern Bernina Machine at Home
Our technician Ian, will guide you where to clean and oil, parts to "defluff", the correct maintenance processes to carry out at home between major services. $35 tuition and kit fee includes cleaning brush, oil and oiler bottle.
How to Maintain your Top Loading Machine at Home
This class is geared for machines that load the bobbin at the top under the plastic cover that sits into the needle plate. Ian, will guide you where to clean and oil, parts to "defluff", the correct maintenance processes to carry out at home between major services. Tuition and kit fee includes cleaning brush, oil and oiler bottle.
Overlocker Club
This is a 2 part class and if you have missed part 1 you are still welcome to join part 2 and I will give you the skills to be able to finish the project at home. The fee will differ as you will not be paying for Feb tuition, so please contact the store.

Overlocker club will run off a similar concept with different projects each month. This starts with a notebook cover. In this class we learn how to do decorative stitching, get confident threading, understand the components of your machine, insert elastic, insert a zipper and use decorative threads.
Sneaker Workshops
We are excited to let you know we have found a new way to bring you a 'Make your own Sneakers' workshop. We have partnered with 'SneakerStitch' and are able to run this class in our store as accredited teachers. We have two sets of dates in Sylvania and 1 in Lindfield.

Guest Teachers
Another year, another Caroline Sharkey class! We are so excited to have the wonderful Caroline Sharkey back again in our Sylvania store. This year we are mixing it up and she is teaching surface art and fabric embellishment. Caroline will guide you through the creation of your own piece of embellished fabric. What you will make with the fabric is up to you. Caroline has made a jacket and we will offer a secondary class if there is enough interest in making a jacket post class. This will be run by one of our dressmaking teachers. You may prefer to attach yours to a canvas and make an art work.
At this stage we do not have Lindfield dates but are taking expressions of interest.
We also have the pleasure of hosting Janne Williams, one of our Lindfield teachers, in our Sylvania store. She is teaching a two-day workshop on Embroidery Hoop art. Sewn by hand, it is a combination of stitches, threads, laces, embellishments and fabrics. The final piece can be presented in a hoop or frame or even be made into another item such as a bag or cushion.
We've missed having Michelle Marvig instore since she moved out of the area and ceased her monthly classes, so we thought it would be lovely to have her back for a weekend. Join us and make the April Pinwheels quilt.
For anyone who owns a BERNINA B990 and wants further education we are hosting a class in each store. If you purchased your machine from us please contact us for your loyalty discount. If you didn't you are more than welcome to join this class. If you want to know more about the machine and share the use of our demo in store to participate in the class you are also welcome to book. Kits are included in the fee.
Crystal is guiding ByAnnie pattern sewing days. You are welcome to work on a pattern you started or want to start under her guidance. If you want to start your bag making journey these are also perfect and we can suggest beginner patterns to use.
There are more scheduled for later in the year. These book fast.
Janne Williams runs a patchwork, quilting and stitching class on the 1st Tues of the month in Lindfield. You are welcome to work on your own project under her guidance or try one of the techniques she will show each month.

We are expanding our dressmaking classes and will be hosting BYO project classes as well as skills classes in each store.
Specialty technique classes
The Lindfield hems class will be incorporated into the 4th Friday class in Feb below.
The Sylvania one has run but we are happy to run it again if we have enough interest.
BYO projects
There are limited positions in the fortnightly Wed night class in Sylvania too
We are mixing up the way Vicky is teaching this year. We have had requests for specialty classes on some of the Amanda Murphy rulers and
We have also had requests for Vicky's general guidance on free motion quilting, ruler work quilting and quilting design.
In these classes you can work on your skills or your projects under Vicky's guidance.
We have a couple of Wednesday positions in Lorena Uriarte's class available. This is a rare treat.

We have a one day workshop to make this little zippered pouch. It's a great way to learn patchwork basics and zipper insertion.

Juki Dealer
We are also so excited to announce we are officially a Juki dealer! Meaning we now sell Bernina, Bernette, Brother, Baby lock and Juki sewing Machines and Overlockers. We still need to learn a bit more about these machines ourselves and get familiar with a new range of accessories, we are however thrilled to learn and show you all a whole new range.
Machine Servicing Update
Machine servicing and repairs continues to be incredibly busy, and we ask that you don't leave it until last minute and be patient with our staff. We are now taking bookings for late March into April and onwards currently.
Longarm Quilting Update
We have just done some scary mathematics and are now on a 12-week timeframe for quilting. However, please remember you can book your quilts in before they are finished meaning you are not waiting quite as long.
