What We Have Been Up To


We have spent the last few weekends at events, including the MQG show, Illawarra Craft and Quilt Expo, and the ASG Industry Day. Here are some photos from those events.

Sylvania Beginners Patchwork Piecing


There is still a chance to join this class if it interests you. It is open to all skill levels. This class is a great way to improve your patchwork and piecing skills while learning some new techniques.



ByAnnie Sewing Days


One of our most recent ByAnnie sewing days saw some finished bags! If you want to start or progress your ByAnnie project, you are welcome to join any of our upcoming ByAnnie sewing days. Here are a few to choose from:


Crystal is widely respected for her bag-making knowledge, especially when it comes to the ByAnnie patterns. We have many patterns you can choose from when you join this class, along with lots of the required fabrics and notions. These are in addition to the tuition fee.


Easter Closures


We are taking a small break over Easter. We will close on Thursday, 2 April at 3:30 PM and will return to normal hours on Tuesday, 7 April.



Bernina Academy


This year, Bernina Academy will run from 12-15 August 2026 at Wenty Leagues Club in Wentworthville, Sydney.


BERNINA Academy is a series of classes and lectures aimed at teaching various sewing techniques and skills by BERNINA Australia. These sessions are conducted by expert instructors and cover a wide range of topics, from basic sewing to advanced embroidery and quilting. The Academy is open to everyone, whether you're a beginner looking to learn new skills or an experienced sewist aiming to refine your techniques. It's the perfect skill-building event, no matter what sewing machine you own.

Quilting with Vicky


Walking Foot, Free Motion, and Ruler Work Quilting

Guided by Vicky Greenstein


Quilt your quilts under her guidance. Learn the skills to make you more confident at home. If you would like to know more about free motion quilting and gain some new skills, then this is the class for you. Learn the basic shapes, movements, and patterns.


Learn the basics of quilting with rulers and the ruler foot. What rulers are and how to use them with your machine. You will explore your machine settings.

Caroline Sharkey Surface Art/Fabric Embellishment


Join us on Saturday, 11 and Sunday, 12 April for a weekend of creativity and fun. Caroline will guide you through the creation of your own piece of embellished fabric. What you make with the fabric is up to you.


Here is some inspiration for what you could turn your embellished fabric into.



Sewing Machine Club


Taught by Bernadette Hoy, this is a monthly class where we do small projects to gain new skills on our sewing machines. It is open to Bernina, Bernette, Brother, Juki, and Janome brands. For other brands, please ask.


This is a 3-part class:


Class 1

  • Using decorative stitches to embellish fabric and give it dimension

  • Review of stabilisers

  • Applique stitch option discussion


Class 2

  • Applique techniques

  • Twin needle work

  • Embellishments

  • Foot discussion - Open toe foot, edge stitch foot

  • Trapunto


Class 3

Beginners Overlocker Class


There is a last-minute chance to book into the following class. Gain more confidence when using your overlocker. This class is applicable for 3 or 4 thread overlockers. We will not cover cover and chain stitch during this class.


An introduction will be provided to gain an understanding of threading, dials, width, length, differential feed, and stitches available, including rolled hemming and flatlock.
