Today we start with an overview of the quilt and cutting instructions. You don't need to cut it all out now. I just want you to understand the project so that when I start going through the blocks and backgrounds you can see what they look like and where they are placed.
I also want to let you know that the quilt can be made by beginners and intermediates. It is not a very difficult one and we do work slowly on our skills.
This sew along is designed by Kimberly Einmo.
She is the National Spokesperson for Janome-America, an author, award-winning quilter, fabric designer, international instructor, quilt judge, and host of five popular classes on CRAFTSY/Bluprint. She has written six best-selling books published by the American Quilter’s Society, created a signature line of unique, specialty quilting rulers, and she writes a column, called Stray Threads, in every issue of American Quilter Magazine. Kimberly is proud to be a featured artist for the Electric Quilt Company where she has developed three EQ companion software products. Her debut basics fabric collection, Solid-ish, is a best-seller for Timeless Treasures Fabrics and she enjoys teaching on quilting cruises to exotic locales around the globe.
She's pretty clever isn't she.
Here is what the full quilt she made looks like. As mentioned in the post where I discussed the backgrounds this original quilt was made with a black background. You can see how different mine is and I'm hoping I will like it just as much as Kimberly's.
What have you chosen for yours?
So that we can work through the blocks together please download this document which details cutting instructions per block. Remember you don't need to cut yet, just have a read through.
In regards to the rulers mentioned in the document, I have alternative suggestions for you to use, if you don't own something similar. I will talk you through these in the blocks. All that I use are available in Australia and in store to make it easier.
Happy reading
