I have been trying to get time to write a newsletter, but as you understand life in the fast lane is keeping me busy. Though, COVID slowed me down enough to get this done !!
We've been open in Lindfield for a few months now and are meeting lots of new people. It's been great getting to know you all.
Here is a glimpse of some of the new fabrics instore.
We have also topped up our grunge, got some new French General and a wonderful new Poppie Cotton firefly range to name a couple of others. These are available in both stores.
I've spent the last little (long) while getting some classes sorted. The calendar is jammed packed in both Sylvania and Lindfield. Some classes are the repeated in both stores and some will be different. We are trying to get the balance of options, as well as variety. There are still plenty more to come.
Here are a few that are coming up soon. This takes us through until about the end of March, incredible I know. This is not all of them. Check out the website to learn about others. We hope you find something here that interests you.
Wednesday 21 Feb - Lindfield - Overlocking Club
Tuition is $40 per class. Kits and patterns are required to be purchased in addition to the tuition fee.
In February we will be focusing on rolled hems and ruffles. The kit is $25.
The same class will take place in Sylvania on Friday 8 March
Our sewing machine club will commence next week after a false start this week.
Tuesday 20 February in Sylvania and Wednesday 6 March in Lindfield
Our plan is to look at applique and working with vinyl in the first class using the Sew Quirky - Quirky Threads Vinyl Organiser in the first class. The second class we will quilt the foam for this and the foam for the next project - a cross body bag. And the third class we will focus on Zippers and completion of both projects. If we do well, we will move a little quicker through the projects to ensure 2 complete projects.
If you cannot make all the classes that is not a problem. You just need to be aware you will need to finish the projects at home, or you are welcome to join a different class to finish them.

Sylvania - ByAnnie Open Wide Bag - Thursday 22 February
We have 2 positions left in this bag class. Crystal's ByAnnie classes are very popular and it is only because we ran this class recently that you can get into this one. Come and learn how to make these bags. Please note there is pre class butting and quilting so you do need to have preparation time.
We will run this class in Lindfield Wednesday 13 March
Lindfield - Tuesday 27 Feb - Machine Embroidery - Words to Quilt By
In this class you will bring your embroidery machine and stitch along with the project. The pattern is included in the class fee. The class aim is to get you on your machine doing different styles of projects and using your machine features.
Using the Words to Quilt By Pattern and Designs, Bree from Bernina, will run us through different methods of applique in the hoop and different applique stitches. We will also look at virtual positioning and how to rehoop when your design is bigger than your hoop.
The pattern and designs are included in the class fee for copyright purposes. If you already own the pattern and designs, please contact us to discuss.
The class is open to brands other than Bernina. If you are uncertain, please contact us and we can talk about your machine and guide you.

We have been lucky enough to secure Deborah Louie for a few extra classes this year.
This is the first of them for the year. There are a couple of positions free which is rare. Come and learn more about applique and quilting. Deb has a great assortment of projects you could start. Here is one.

Get to know your Bernina machine - BERNINA Ambassador Deborah Louie Saturday 16 March - Lindfield store.
This class suits BERNINA 4,5,7 series machines. It's a great all round get to know your machine class. Deb will ensure you get the most from your machine going forward. Learn from the master. If you want to know whether you can join with your machine, just ask.

We welcome Lorena Uriarte back to Wednesdays in March after she's whipped around the world teaching. Lorena offers a range of modern piecing techniques and projects. She started her Saturday classes in February, but these are very busy. You can book Wednesdays now, if you are interested in the Saturdays please contact the shop.
These classes are held in the Sylvania store and the first class is Wednesday 20 March
Vicky our patient and skilful free motion wizard will be teaching her Beginner's Free motion quilting class in Lindfield on Friday 15 March.
If you want to start your free motion quilting journey or have started and realise you could do with some support, then this is the class for you.
Next up Vicky will teach you more about the Amanda Murphy Quilting Rulers. If you own them or are thinking or buying some then come along, use the rulers and make a sample. "How do I use that ruler?" This class will focus on the Clamshell and Feather Rulers

Hopefully you've kept reading because we are very lucky to be hosting Caroline Sharkey!!! in both stores for 2 different workshops. Caroline is a world recognised fibre artist and an all-round lovely person.
