We are excited to tell you that we are now a Hobbs stockist. This in addition to our current range of Matilda's Own Wadding. We are trying to keep a decent range of fibres and sizes so that we can best cater to your needs.

Hobbs Tuscany Batting is a premium batting with exceptional depth, loft, dimension and hand-finishing, Hobbs Tuscany Batting is the choice for the most discerning quilters.

What makes the Hobbs Tuscany Batting offering different from the Hobbs’ Heirloom^® Batting line is the method by which the products are finished – each product in Hobbs’ Tuscany Batting line is lovingly cut, folded and packaged by hand, providing quilters with a batting that has few if any wrinkles or creases, and wonderful loft in those products designed to provide high loft. Professional show quilters and long-armers love it for its reliability and the beautiful results this batting provides.

It is recommended that you quilt every 3” with the Tuscany and Heirloom battings that do not have scrim.

Heirloom^® Premium 80/20 Cotton Blend

Heirloom^® Premium Cotton Blend is made from 80% long staple cotton fibers and 20% fine polyester. This combination of fibers creates a strong, longwearing batt and is very easy to handle. The batting is lightly needle punched and treated with a soft resin to provide stability to the fibers and prevent the polyester from bearding. This process makes Heirloom^® Cotton Blend Batting uniquely easy to quilt by hand.

Heirloom^® Premium Cotton

Hobbs Heirloom^®Premium Cotton will give your projects the traditional flat look of antique quilts without the need for excessive quilting. Cotton is a breathable fiber that provides warmth and comfort. Heirloom^® Premium Cotton is easy to quilt by hand or machine and drapes beautifully.

Heirloom^®Premium Cotton can be quilted as close as ¼” and as far apart as 4”. Close quilting will be very flat, while more space between the quilting lines will yield a slightly higher loft.

Hobbs Poly-Down Batting is made with very fine, white, denier polyester which enables this batting to provide a soft feel and lovely drape. Exceptional for hand quilting, it is also prized by machine quilters for its wonderful loft which accentuates quilting details.

Hobbs Poly-Down Batting is bonded to provide added durability and resist bearding and migration, and it’s machine-washable, non-allergenic and maintains its loft.

Items made with Hobbs Poly-Down Batting may be machine washed – we recommend all quilts be washed using a delicate cycle and cool water, with no heavy agitation or spinning. Please be especially cautious with front loading washers as the intense spin cycle on these machines can be very hard on quilts.

Items made with Hobbs Poly-Down Batting may also be machine dried (again, we recommend a low-heat setting). For more detailed washing information, please see the care instructions on the product packaging. Pre-washing is not recommended for this or any of our other quality batting products.

Hobbs Poly-Down Batting should be paired with light- to medium-colored fabrics – if being paired with darker fabrics, we recommend quilters test this batting with their chosen fabric(s) to see if there will be an issue. It’s always best to test first!

This batting may be stitched up to 4″ apart and no shrinkage is expected when the finished project is washed according to our care instructions (above).

We recommend quilters spend time learning about Hobbs Poly-Down Polyester Batting before using it on a project – making samples using this batting to see how it needles, both by hand and by machine, and how it launders, provides an opportunity to see if this batting can deliver the desired results.
