Beginner's Dressmaking - a series of 5 classes

Fridays 7, 14, 21, 28 June and 5 July
10am - 1pm
The fee covers tuition for the 5 classes and a choice of 1 pattern from the suitable options we have in store. These are selected patterns geared to easy and beginner's skills. The ideal pattern is a skirt, but if this does not suit your gender please reach out and we can find an alternative.
Additional patterns can be purchased if you find you are completing the project ahead of schedule.
Our classes are geared for 4 to 6 students, so that we can ensure you get plenty of time with, and guidance from, the teacher.
Term 1
In this series of classes we hope to achieve the following
Learning outcomes
- matching appropriate fabrics to patterns
- reading a pattern
- sizing a pattern
- adjusting, fitting and cutting a pattern
- understanding sewing seams
- darts
- yokes
- waistbands
- invisible zipper insertion
Practical outcome
1 finished garment
Requirements list is available if you want to see them before booking. Please reach out online or in store. We can help you put together your sewing kit if you would like our advice on what is best and what is needed. Most requirements will be available to purchase in store and can be kitted up ready for you.
You will be required to make a calico toile, in addition to your skirt, so you will need requirements for this as well.
