This week we are moving to create some interesting shapes using the pieces and shapes we are comfortable with.
Here is my block.
Here is the original block.
As usual watch the video before you start
I think this is the video link she was referring to
The lines she is referring to are available on most rulers
And have a read of the instructions
Cutting
Background fabric
8 x 1/2 sq triangles from a 2.5 inch strip
These need to be paired with the green fabric - below
4 x 2.5 inch squares
Green
8 x 1/2 sq triangles from a 2.5 inch strip - used above with the background
Another 8 x 1/2 sq triangles from a 2.5 inch strip
These need to be paired with the pink fabric - below
Pink
4 x 2.5 inch squares
8 x 1/2 sq triangles from a 2.5 inch strip - used above with the green
Navy
1 x 2.5 inch square
I find Michelle's templates great for this pairing process. See how I arrange it below
When cutting pairs lay the fabrics right sides together. This gives you your sets.
Piecing
Arrange the block as follows
Sew the 1/2 sq triangles together
Sew the corner units together.
Sew the middle blocks together in the top and bottom row.
Sew the middle row together.
It should look like this
Join the top row together.
Join the bottom row together.
Sew the 3 rows together to complete your block.
Background
Now that your block is finished sew a piece of background fabric measuring 5.5 inches high and 10.5 inches wide to the top of the block.
Sew a piece of background fabric measuring 5.5 inches high and 10.5 inches wide to the bottom of the block as well.
It will look like this.
See you next Saturday... :)
