Next lot of exciting classes for 2025

Happy Long Weekend !!

This email is a quick rundown on the next lot of exciting classes we have in both stores. We have some doozies, and you do not want to miss any of these last positions!!! Here is a glimpse of just some of what is available in June, July and August.

Kathryn Harmer Fox is an internationally renowned textile artist from South Africa. We have been extremely lucky to have her in both stores. Sylvania ran last weekend and was a huge success. You do not want to miss this class as it is your last opportunity in Sydney for some time to come. Saturday 21, Sunday 22, and Monday 23 June - 3 day workshop. Below are some of the projects you can do. Kathryn is also a master at stitching realistic eyes using threads and fibres. This is also an option in class. There are limited positions remaining in this class.

1 position is available due to a cancellation - Lorena is currently heavily booked for the rest of the year and this may be your last chance to do this class for 2025.

Skill level - basic through to advanced, however you must be confident in using sewing machines and patterns. The quilt must be quilted prior to the class. Your own sewing machine is required.

Learn how to confidently transform a quilt or quilted panels into a quilt coat. In this workshop you will learn how to transform your quilts into cozy coats using a pattern suitable for most sizes. You can use a completed quilt, pre-quilted fabric or specifically make quilted panels according to the coat pattern requirements.

Friday 20 June gives you a chance to spend the day with Crystal in Sylvania starting or finishing your ByAnnie bag project. These classes are always very popular and book out quickly.

Another class runs on Saturday 14 June

and in Lindfield

Lorena Uriarte teaches a monthly class on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We have 3 available positions in this month's class. You can work on one of her projects or you can work on your own project. Lorena can suggest projects both large and small. Beginners and beyond are welcome.

Lorena also teaches on the 3rd Saturday of the month in Sylvania.

Spend two days with Deborah Louie making either a cushion or starting the table runner. Learn blind hem applique, decorative stitch applique, turned decorative stitch applique, and free motion sketch applique. You will also be taught free motion quilting basics so that you can finishing quilting your project at home. Suits beginner to intermediate. An incredible learning exercise for BERNINA owners in particular as Deborah is an ambassador and will be able to teach you more about your machines during the class.

You can also learn a lot in this Deborah Louie class in Lindfield. The stitched mandala cushion teaches you about threads, needles and your machine stitches and settings. While this is a one day workshop you are welcome to do it as a 2 day workshop with the extra day being 18 June.

Wednesday 11 June you get the opportunity to double dip - use your scraps up and learn how to sew curves by machine and / or hand. A small template set is part of the fee. We run a monthly class to scrap bust. Vicky leads this class and teaches you a different project each month. The project pattern (if required) is included in the fee.

In the July class Sylvania - When life gives you scraps - Use them up 9/7 | my-sewing-supplies we will be making a zippered pouch. This class runs in the school holidays and high school students are welcome to participate in this class.

This class runs in the school holidays and is a great professional education opportunity for teachers. Get the most out of your overlocker. Be confident in using it. Be confident in teaching others more about it. It is open to all overlockers and is a great beginner's class. Bring your overlocker so you can use your new skills at home.

Turn one fabric that has noticeable repeats into a quilt that looks incredible and nothing like the original fabric. 6 full repeats are needed. We can guide you as to the correct fabric and show you ways to audition fabrics.

Sewing Machine Club runs again in July

There is both a daytime and evening class in each store

This is a skill building class where you use your machine to learn new techniques whilst doing a project. A great little make up pouch. The project is done by everyone in the class. There are a few different kit colour ways to choose from. We will be learning 1/4 inch piecing, quilting and zippers. This project will not be finished during the class unless some prep work is done prior to class. "Pre class homework" is recommended and will be given on booking. It is some cutting out and planning.

Please note the day time class in Sylvania and evening class in Lindfield have been short on numbers and need 3 people to run.

Karen is a calm and knowledgeable stitcher. We love having her in store. Join this 2 day workshop. She will teach you embroidery stitching and English paper piecing while you make this quilt. You are welcome to change the configuration of the quilt. The techniques are in the blocks. The quilt will not be finished in the 2 days, but the process will be repetitive and able to be completed at home with your new skills.

I'll let you digest those classes, as there is lots of variety.

I'll finish up here and I hope you are getting more sewing done than I am this weekend.

See you soon

Bernadette (and Ian, Crystal, Vicky and Sarah)
