It's been too long....

Hello,

I had been doing so well and then the busy October and November months hit and I went quiet :) I am well overdue with a newsletter so here we are....

It was fun though, pop up shops at the Be Creative, Illawarra Quilters and Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild Retreats and also at the 21st and final Bulli Corner Quilters Quilt and Flower Show. We had Caroline Sharkey and Deborah Louie back for classes, prepared our Liberty Advent Boxes and our 12 days of Christmas bags are just about ready. Add to that everyday business and here we are, about to go into December.

The good news is we still have 2 Liberty boxes available and 2, 12 Days Bags available.

You can purchase the Liberty boxes here and either contact the Sylvania store (0295222340) for more info on the 12 Days and Crystal or Bernadette can help you or respond to this email and Bernadette will be in touch. These are due to be finalised next week, so don't have it live on the website yet.

We have Karyn from Baby Lock Australia back early Dec to run another customer workshop in both stores. She has redesigned a Christmas table runner to get the most from either your Baby Lock overlocker or coverstitch machine. For those who are experienced on their combined machine when it comes to overlocking, this is a great chance to see what your coverstitch machine does and just use that side of the machine to make the runner. If you own a Primo you can do the project just on that. If you own an overl0cker and are not yet experienced on the difference stitches and threads you can use, jump at this chance. She's wonderful and you will learn lots.

The plan for the day is a 10am start make the runner, about 3-3.5 hours, have a lunch break (1/2 hour) and then look at what else coverstitch machines do. If you own a machine, you are welcome to sew along, if you do not and are curious and want to know more and learn we will have machines set up for you to continue having fun with us all.

In other news, our Designs on Demand system up and running in both stores. You can purchase OESD embroidery designs straight from us and we can either send them to your OESD account or download them onto a USB (you bring in to us) for you.

The benefits are:

  • you can see the AUD value immediately

  • you are not getting foreign currency charges on your card

  • you are dealing with a business you know

  • any specials such as the current free Christmas design pack with orders over $59 (USD) we can do as AUD and we can include the stabiliser rolls to get you to the value.

  • you get to speak with us to ensure the designs are suitable for your machine

  • you get to see us more often, LOL

If you are an experienced embroider you can head straight to OESD using our affiliate link

https://oesd.com/?aff=560 and buy directly. This way you are shopping in our "sub store" within the OESD website and your sales are attributed to our business. A little way to support our business while getting your midnight shopping and design fix.

For those of you planning on attending our machine embroidery classes next year to do the Kaffe Fassett Leafy Applique Quilt in the first half of 2026, now is a great time to purchase the designs and the initial stabilisers as the designs are on special and those items will qualify you for the Nov free Christmas design pack valued about AUD90

ree

I am aware that we are closed tomorrow the last day of Nov, but you can order the stabiliser here My sewing supplies, notions and threads sydney and you can purchase the designs through the above affiliate link. I will be notified and send you the free designs. Feel free to email us to double check I know to give you the designs.

You will need at least 2 packs of Appliqué Fuse and Fix for class OESD Stabilisers - Applique Fuse and Fix | my-sewing-supplies. These and the design pack will take you over the $59 level required.

It is Design pack 80388 and while it is designed for larger hoops on the 7 series and above Bree Ledingham from Bernina and I are working, to date successfully, and have reduced templates and designs to suit the Maxi Hoop on the 5 series. This hoop is also on special.

For those with other brand machines, you are welcome to join the class fun. Please look at the design size in comparison to your hoop sizes. I can reduced designs to 80% of the official designs on the OESD website. If this is as clear as mud to you, please reach out and I can help so that you can join us. All brands are welcome if I can find a hoop that makes it work for you, and I do not think that will be difficult.

Now, there is some considerable preparation for this class, so purchasing now gives you quiet time in Dec and Jan to prepare for the first class.

The first few class dates for Sylvania are here

And Lindfield here

We are also running an optional add on class in the afternoons so that you can QAYG the blocks and not have another unfinished project at the end of the year. We will use PQW QISS method on these blocks.

Sylvania's first

Lindfield's first

These classes will be ongoing, monthly for the year, in an effort to keep us on track for completion of a project !! Unheard of, I know :)

I am loading up lots of classes for next year. There are about 200 ready for next year. You can see what is arranged so far here

There are many great Black Friday deals on machines, but I wanted to highlight this one in particular Baby Lock Enspire Overlocker | my-sewing-supplies
