Hello,

… And just like that it is Christmas … I blinked and missed November and December. I just wanted to quickly touch base to finish the year.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the time with your family and friends. Thank you all so much for your support this year, both for our business and our staff. It’s been a big one. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you 2021.

New - Q16


The new Bernina Q16 sit down, long arm quilting machine is in store and we currently have stock. It is a fabulous machine. If you are interested in seeing or purchasing this machine, please contact us in January to book a demo or make a purchase. Save your Christmas gift money …





Fabric

We do have lots of new fabrics in store. I did not get time to photograph them all sorry. Come in for a visit to see them all.


2021

If you want to make an early start on planning 2021 here are some options.


Classes

We have started to call people re classes for 2021. We are taking this slowly as we want to be able to speak to everyone and explain our new process. This is to keep everyone safe and be able to react quickly should we need to – in COVID speak terms 😊

Both the teachers and ourselves are excited about this. Hip hip hooray !!!!

Classes will be smaller in number and the price is rising slightly, but it will not be excessive.


Important dates for Sydney Quilt Show 2021 Have you started your entries for the Sydney Quilt Show 2021, to be held (COVID-19 permitting) from 23-27 June at the International Convention Centre Sydney. Summer is a great time to get that new quilt underway. To keep you focussed on it, here are the important dates for the 2021 show. Monday 1 February 2021: opening date for entries Monday 8 March 2021: closing date for entries Friday 30 April 2021: acceptance letters dispatched Friday 11 June 2021: deadline for quilts to be delivered to the drop off person Wednesday 23 - Sunday 27 June 2021: Sydney Quilt Show Sunday 4 July 2021: deadline for quilts to be collected from the drop off person In addition to all the usual categories you can enter, there is also the special 2021 theme of blue and white.

Should you get a chance to hit the road…

Seed Stitch Contemporary Textile Awards 2020 In Tamworth in December and January? Why not visit this exhibition produced and presented by Australian Design Centre in partnership with the Seed Stitch Collective. The 2020 competition attracted 49 entries from NSW textile artists and the exhibition features outstanding works by 25 finalists. Materials used vary from waste to silk. Works address themes from artificial intelligence, the environment and the COVID-19 pandemic. Where: Tamworth Regional Gallery, 466 Peel Street, Tamworth When: 28 November 2020 - 2 February 2021 Tensions 2020 Tamworth Textile Triennial National Tour Taree is hosting the Tamworth Textile Triennial until mid-February. This exhibition showcases the best of textile art from across Australia. It attracts participating artists from all states in Australia. Tensions 2020 has been curated by Vic McEwan. It is touring regional and smaller galleries until 2022. Where: Manning Regional Gallery, 12 Macquarie Street, Taree When: 18 December 2020 - 14 February 2021.

Fusion: NCEATA - Timeless Textiles, Newcastle

The Newcastle Creative Embroiders and Textile Artists (NCEATA) are presenting an exhibition that is a fusion of personal experiences and artistic influences, a mixture of blending of materials and techniques. The result is described as a collection of vibrant and diverse textile artworks. Timeless Textiles is a commercial gallery dedicated to fibre art and artisans. Each year it hosts four local, four national and four international exhibitions.

Where: Timeless Textiles, 90 Hunter Street, Newcastle When: 23 December 2020 - 31 January 2021, Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 3pm

The New Quilt - plan a visit to Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Windsor

QuiltNSW is excited to re-launch The New Quilt at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Windsor from 5 February - 11 April 2021. The New Quilt is a juried survey exhibition showcasing the art of quilting that reflects the richness and diversity of contemporary expressions of the quilt medium in Australia. The exhibition of 40 selected works will be an opportunity to experience an amazing array of creativity and innovation from quilters across Australia. Make sure you plan a visit.

Where: Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, 300 George Street, Windsor. When: 5 February - 11 April 2021 Gallery hours: Monday, Wednesday- Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday- Sunday 10am-3pm. Closed on Tuesday and public holidays On Sunday 7 February 11am - 12 noon: join jurors Anna Brown and Judy Hooworth as they share insights that informed their selection and reflections on the development of quilts as an art medium. On Wednesday 11 February 11am - 12 noon: Curator Elissa Blair will present exhibition insights. Bookings essential.

We are like an airline now…

We now have a QR code that you can scan. We have it one the front door, one with the hand sanitiser on the long arm quilting machine, inside the door, when you come in and another at the counter.

If you download the Services NSW app onto your phone it makes it quick and easy. Here is the link so you know what you are looking for.

We will be asking to see that you have signed in as we want to ensure we are doing all we can to keep you and us safe.

We are also limiting numbers instore but to date this as not caused any major waits or delays.

We thank you for your support of and adherence to the “new world rules”.

The download of the App and signing in, will be compulsory for the attendance of classes in store

Blocks of the Month

We are still working hard to get these finished to show you. Sorry for the delay. They will start to be shown in late Jan / early Feb and progress throughout the year from there.

Supply Issues

We have had lots of supply issues throughout the year and although these are starting to resolve we do not expect things to return to normal until late 1st quarter or the 2nd quarter of the year. Thank you for your continued patience with this.

If you are after certain machines or notions please let us know as early as you can so that we can help you plan timing and delivery.
