This foot is used for general purpose sewing, four thread, three thread, two thread overlocking, triple, wide, narrow coverstitch, chain stitch, and combination stitches. It has a groove underneath which pleats fabric to form a gather when using the differential feed. The standard/grooved foot features a tape guide used to insert cotton stay tape into seams as well as adding thin elastic to garments. The needle markings on the front of the foot ensures accurate stitch alignment.
